An up-to-date overview of free software and its makers

Virtual Camera

The vloopback kernel module creates a virtual camera device that you can use to grab video data created in WebcamStudio. The module is not a standard feature of all distributions, but it is included with the WebcamStudio package. After loading the module, the kernel creates an additional video device, such as /dev/video2. Video blogging service flash applications communicate with the device. However, you can only use WebcamStudio for this if the vloopback kernel module is loaded and you have write access to the video loopback device.
