Bacula Backup Solution Reaches 1 Million Downloads
The open source backup software Bacula has surpassed the 1 million mark in Sourceforge's download statistics.
The download figures make Bacula the most popular tool for enterprise deployment, says Bacula Systems. The Swiss company provides professional support and an Enterprise Edition, with computer centers, financial institutions, telecom providers and agencies among its customers.
The company attributes its download success to its entrepreneurial nature and its strategic alliances with, among others, Red Hat, Sun, Ingres and MySQL. Add to that the fact that Bacula can be loaded on a USB stick and made into a bootable system to restore data in case of a hard disk error. The USB stick is part of Bacula's support offering and not independently available, according to the company.
