Commercial Support for Freespire Linux

Sep 19, 2007

Linspire is offering commercial support for basic issues for its Freespire community version as of now.

Users of the free newcomer distribution Freespire can now purchase support tickets. Support is available for installation, network settings, mail setup and the installation of peripherals such as printers. A single support incident costs US$ 24.95, with discounts available for three or five tickets, and an annual support subscription available for US$ 149.95.

Thus far Linspire has not reacted to a query by Linux Magazine Online asking what exactly a customer can expect for a single support ticket (e.g. 30 minutes telephone support, or just an exchange of emails).

Thus far the support available has been 90-day support for Linspire's commercial Linux distribution. Users have had access to the typical tools, however, including a forum, document and a chat for Freespire. Commercial support is restricted to original and current Linspire Linux versions, and does not extend to the Apple platform. A list of support-capable issues and detailed list of required computer technology is available on the vendor's website.
