More Powerful than Ever: Kernel 2.6.23 Released
With numerous new drivers and functions and a whole bunch of improvements Linus Torvalds released the new 2.6.23 version of the Linux kernel in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
The new kernel version took slightly longer to complete than anticipated. "not because of any huge issues, but because of various bugfixes trickling in and causing me to reset my "release clock" all the time" Torvalds explains. In his announcement on the Linux Kernel Mailing List he goes on to say that there have not been many changes between the last Release Candidate and the final kernel version 2.6.23. Most of the improvements affect the Mips, Sparc64 and Blackfin architectures, apart from a couple of one-liners, driver and subsystem fixes.
