The OpenOffice project has taken the next step toward version 3.0 of its free office package by publishing release candidate 2 (RC 2)
In a telephone interview, marketing manager Florian Effenberger told Linux Magazine the project was well within schedule, and the two week delay compared with the original timeline was normal, considering the extensive changes being made for major release 3.0. The project still hopes to release the finished openOffice version in the last days of September.
OpenOffice 3.0 RC2 is in Windows, Mac OS X and various Linux formats ready to download, although the project tells us some mirror servers are not yet up to date.
