Conclusions

The practicality of MediaGoblin is demonstrated by its use on web pages [4] [5]. In its current form, the software makes a good impression, but it still lacks some functions. For example, user and rights management is rudimentary. Also, all visitors always see all the uploaded media, which will probably prevent enterprise use in certain cases. Additionally, discussions cannot be moderated; administrators can only delete comments, and the documentation seems primarily to target developers [11].

In the long term, the makers are looking to connect MediaGoblin installations to offer decentralized media management that lies in the hand of the user. However, because everyone can see and download all the uploaded media right now, things are currently more or less out of control.
