enTourage eDGe combines Netbook with E-Reader
Why should you buy a Netbook and a Kindle when you can buy a device that combines the two? According to the company enTourage, you can easily do just that for $500 with their new eDGe, which even comes with Linux.
The enTourage eDGe is the first Dualbook created. It includes two monitors and a 10.1 inch diagonal measurement for the LCD touchscreen display with 1024 x 600 pixels, as well as a 9.7 inch diagonal measurement and 1200 x 825 pixel E-paper display for the E-reader.
Connectivity occurs via WiFi, and 3G capability is planned for versions yet to come. The device lacks a hard drive, but has a 4 GB flash memory. Google’s Android serves as operating system, and the E-Reader supports the formats ePub and PDF. According to the website, the E-Reader has to charge for 16 hours, in which case the batteries last for 6 hours. The website does not reveal which processor the eDGe is equipped with.
Among the supported audio formats are Mp3,EAV 3GPP, Mp4, AMR, AAC, OGG, and M4A and video formats include 3GP, MP4, as well as Adobe Flash Lite (H.264).
The EnTourage homepage offers the eDGe for $490 via pre-order. As of February 2010, the device will be available as of February 2010.
