After repeated calls from developers, HTC has now released the Android source code for a number of its mobile phones.
Code released - HTC Android is free.
Publicizing the source code satisfies at least two wishes of HTC fans, as Slashgear.com indicates: it brings HTC up to date with kernel licensing requirements, and provides opportunities to build more custom ROMs to enrich the mobile phone features.
The source code for the HTC Hero, Magic and Dream models is at developer.htc.com, which also contains HTC's proprietary binaries for ADP1.
