Intel Q3 Stronger than Anticipated

Oct 14, 2009

With a revenue of $9.4 billion and net income of $1.9 billion in the third quarter of 2009, Intel's results fell below those from a year ago, but rose from the $8 billion in revenues from Q2.

The processor manufacturer surpassed analyst -- and even its own -- expectations with its results. Intel's revenue outlook was $9 billion, despite the upswing in sales end of August. According to Intel president and CEO Paul Otellini's forecast, "[Intel's] momentum in the current economic climate, plus our product leadership, gives us confidence about our business prospects going forward." Expressed in figures, the company hopes for $10.1 revenue in Q4, plus or minus $400 million.

Intel reports record mobile processor and chipset sales in Q3. Atom processor and chipset sales increased 15% from Q2 to $415 million.
