Red Hat Updates JBoss SOA

Oct 10, 2008

Linux provider Red Hat announces new versions of its JBoss Enterprise SOA Platform 4.3 and JBoss Operations Network 2.1.

The Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) component of the JBoss SOA Platform 4.3 should provide new gateway listeners, a declarative security model and additional scripting languages. New rules features include stateful rules, decision tables and support for rule agents. The Operations Network 2.1 component includes, among other things, a remote monitoring facility. Better integration with the ESB should facilitate monitoring of the service bus.

Red Hat started a massive campaign in February to promote its open source JBoss Java middleware product, now available in community and commercial versions. Included in these offerings were the cost-based Enterprise SOA Platform and the Operations Network 2.0, another cost-based management platform for the entire middleware palette. The JBoss package with its Red Hat Linux underpinning targets the SOA market.
