Scientific Linux 5.4 with FUSE, Atheros and Lua

Nov 05, 2009

The Scientific Linux distro, which derives from the freely licensed sources of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), is now available in version 5.4.

With the new release, the product, implemented among other places at the CERN research center in Geneva, can enjoy the new features of RHEL 5.4. Among them are the FUSE userspace filesystem and the WLAN driver for Atheros chipset. Developers added the iwlwifi firmware and updated them for 3945, 4965, 5000 and 5150. Another new addition is the Lua scripting language.

Details on the delivered software packages are in the project release notes. Scientific Linux 5.4 ISO images for 32-bit and 64-bit CPUs are available from mirrors for download.
