Bacula Systems: Commercial Support for Backup Program

Oct 15, 2008

Members of the Swiss Bacula community have created Bacula Systems SA, a new company that will offer professional support and services for the backup program.

Architect of the Client/Server software, Kern Sibbald, will take on the roles of CTO and Chairman with another seven Bacula developers joining the company as administrators, advisors and managers.

According to Sibbald, Bacula Systems is a response to user requests for professional support and he intends to achieve this via a new partner-network. The first cooperation is with French Linux distributor Mandriva, who will act as re-seller for Bacula subscriptions and will incorporate the free backup program in it’s Linux distribution. One of Bacula Systems first customers is the Bank of Austria, who in a press release, praised Bacula for its high reliability and low costs.
