FOSDEM Video: Micro Distro Summit

Feb 14, 2009

Nils Magnus of Linux Magazine Online pulled together the heads of three Linux distros for an interview and put them in a video: openSUSE's Joe Brockmeier, Debian's Steve McIntyre and Red Hat's Max Spevack.

While the representatives from Debian and Red Hat's Fedora can share philosophies, those from openSUSE and Fedora see more eye to eye on technological terms. The three interviewees discuss in the video what differences they see in their distros, how they can work together and what their organizations can contribute.

Steve McIntyre will remain leader of the Debian project at least until the next election for that role in April. Max Spevack works for Red Hat as its global community architecture team lead in the EMEA sphere, after having spent two years as Red Hat's Fedora project lead. Joe “Zonker” Brockmeier, a contributing writer for this magazine, has been Novell's openSUSE community manager for just over a year.
