iFolder Releases Support for All Major Platforms

Apr 03, 2009

The wait is over for iFolder updates. Wider platform support and a number of significant additions should have the FOSS community moving forward again with the iFolder project.

Novell announced iFolder 3.7.2, the first updated release of iFolder since 2007. The Novell-sponsored open source project simplifies synchronizing files across multiple systems and enables users to access and share files securely with other users. iFolder's newest client software now supports Windows, Windows Vista, Mac OS X, and Linux, including openSUSE 10.3. Packages for openSUSE 11.1 will be available later this year. The iFolder project's updates include file merging, additional security options, and simplified handling of file conflicts. The most recent iFolder client and server packages and source code are available for immediate download.

"iFolder has been really popular with the FOSS community and the lack of updates over the past year have been a major problem," says openSUSE's Community Manager, Joe "Zonker" Brockmeier. "The release of 3.7.2 is a first step towards making iFolder a vibrant community project, and I'm really happy that we're finally able to move forward on this once again."
