The version numbers couldn't have matched more perfectly: the AMD Catalyst Linux graphics driver 9.10 supports not only the newest ATI Radeon 5800 series but Ubuntu 9.10.
AMD has updated its proprietary Linux driver for ATI graphics cards. Aside from numerous bug fixes the new Catalyst 9.10 (which has the software version number 8.661) first of all provides support for the Ubuntu 9.10 release due out this week. Other distros with the newest X.org versions and kernel also profit from the update.
Aside from providing support for the newest ATI Radeon generation, the Catalyst driver has more bugfixes than any new features. Bug fixes include those related to dual-head mode and rotating display, although some are still known issues. The complete list are included in the release notes. Download binaries are available for 32-bit and 64-bit systems.
