The Fedora developers have released a preview of the next version of the Fedora 9 Linux distribution; this is the most important release en route to the final version, they say.
Fedora's Release Engineer, Jesse Keating, has appealed to preview testers to provide feedback to the project's bug tracking system. The preview is only available via the Bittorrent download system at present, although the files will be made available on Fedora's mirror servers and via the Jigdo download tool next week.
The Preview release was delayed by technical problems. To allow sufficient time for testing, quality assurance and bug fixing, the Fedora Engineering Steering Committee (FESCo), has decided to postpone the release of the final version 9 by two weeks. This means that Fedora 9 will probably be released May 13 instead of April 29.
