Mini Computer with Suse Linux by Shuttle

Sep 04, 2007

Shuttle, a manufacturer of mini computers is offering two models from its XPC range with Novell's Suse Linux operating system preinstalled.

Two basic variants of the machines are available, and some customization with respect to the CPU, memory size and drives is possible. A computer with Novell's Suse Linux Enterprise Desktop preinstalled is targeted at business users and includes a Novell software support contract. Consumers can opt for an alternative model which is supplied with the free community variant, OpenSuse.

Both computers feature an aluminum case, and include a SATA 300 hard disk, integrated Intel graphics, DDR2 memory, multi-core processor support and ICE heatpipe cooling. Ports include Firewire, USB 2.0 and Gigabit Ethernet connector along with an additional PCI slot. Buyers have a choice of various Intel socket 775 CPUs such as the Pentium 4 or Celeron D, and the board can accommodate up to 2GB RAM.

The price of the basic configuration will be around 490 euros for the consumer model, and 530 euros for the business model, including 24 month pick-up and return service (prices including VAT). The computers are available from dealers all over Europe right now. You can customize your own Shuttle computer on-line on the company website.
