Wind River for Suns UltraSPARC T2

Apr 23, 2008

After porting its Carrier Grade Linux (CGL) and Workbench developer environment to Sun's multithreading capable UltraSPARC T2 processor, embedded specialist Wind River says that it has laid down the tracks for the development of high-performance network components.

To reflect this, the solution has been dubbed "Wind River Platform for Networking Equipment, Linux Edition". It aims to give manufacturers an integrated and tested solution. The first examples of deployment of Carrier Grade Linux in connection with the UltraSPARC processor, are Sun's Netra rack server and ATCA series blades says Wind River .

The chip-multithreading capable (CMT) UltraSPARC T2 achieves higher throughput with lower power consumption and heat output.
