Open source data center management with Red Hat’s oVirt
Virt Captain
The days when administrators were forced to manage virtual machines at the console are gone. Competitors of VMware and Citrix now offer equally sophisticated GUIs. One promising alternative is Red Hat’s oVirt – a free Java interface for Libvirt.
Virtualization is a fact of life: Any IT service provider or developer who wants to be taken seriously needs to have virtualization management on the menu. The four-star chefs at VMware (ESX) and Citrix (Xen Server) paved the way: Virtualization is now a popular mass phenomenon, at least if it is accompanied by an attractive GUI that offers point-and-click control to administrators.
