ROSE Blog: Rikki's Open Source Exchange
June 30th will be my last day in my current role at Linux New Media. I accepted a new position at an open source company, which I'll start next month.
If I were ending all ties with Linux New Media, I'd feel the need to write a final blog post that thanks our publisher, Brian Osborn, for being such a great mentor and pushing me to challenge myself; our editor-in-chief, Joe Casad, for helping me keep my sanity and sense of humor in the crazy world of print publishing; our managing editor, Rita Sooby, for helping me become a better writer and editor, and for all her crazy stories about her life adventures; our production editor, Lori White, for dragging me out of bed in the morning to exercise before work and for never missing a deadline; our customer service team, Steven and Emily, for treating our readers like family members; all my talented colleagues in our international Linux New Media offices for laughing at our differences and bonding over our similarities, and somehow managing to collaborate across time zones and language barriers; our contributing editors, bloggers, columnists and writers for being the brightest, most innovative, diverse group of people in the history of the universe; and our readers and open source community for motivating and inspiring me, and for making sure there's never a dull moment. And I'd also thank the makers of Advil and our Nespresso machine. But I'm staying on as a freelance contributor, so there's no need for me to write an emotional farewell in my final blog post.
Thank you to everyone who read and contributed to this blog since it launched back in January 2008. You've made me grateful to be a person working, living, and playing in the wonderful world of open source.
Thanks to a wonderful collegue!Dear Rikki,
I'm so glad I had the opportunity to work with you. You're a great person to work with, thoughtful, warm, clever, supportive. Thanks for a wonderful time, good you'll stay around!
Thank you!Ola, Thank you so much for your kind words. I really appreciate it!
Logging Out? You will be missed!!!Hi, I'm a reader of Linux Magazine. Getting my first Linux Magazine after passing my LPIC-1 was so "cool".
And then having subscribed to the online version.
It was so inspiring and encouraging to see a woman participating actively in Linux and Open Source.
I believe that Rikki amongst many others stands out as a trail blazer, a good example to all in this area, both male and female alike.
Thank you Rikki and God bless
