Good OS Cloud: Linux as Quick Start for Web and Windows

Dec 01, 2008

Best known for its Wal-Mart Linux PC called gOS, Good OS is presenting a new Cloud browser operating system at the Netbook World Summit in Paris. The compressed Linux kernel boots up as an integrated browser.

The Good OS Cloud offers users a bootup of just a few seconds on their netbooks of preconfigured favorites such as Google, Yahoo and Microsoft's Live search engine. Cloud should also boot up a Windows system.

The software will be demonstrated at the Paris conference and the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas on a touch screen netbook from Gigabyte, preconfigured with Cloud and Windows XP. More information about the Cloud should start appearing on the gOS website.

Booting up the Cloud also provides access to rich client applications in the integrated browser, according to the company's claims.
