SSH for Unix and Windows by Attachmate

The software corporation offers commercial SSH clients and servers for Unix and Windows under the "Reflection for Secure IT" brand. Version 7 of the product family is now available.

Unix versions are available for HP-UX, AIX, Solaris and Linux; the vendor quotes Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 and 5 and Suse Linux Enterprise Server Versions 9 and 10 as supported platforms. The Windows product supports XP, Windows Server 2003, Windows 2000 and Vista. The manufacturer targets enterprises with a heterogeneous IT landscape who are interested in replacing insecure network connections with encrypted alternatives.

The programs support SSHv2, SCP and SFTP. Port forwarding gives users the ability to encapsulate protocols, including X11, Microsoft’s Remote Desktop Protocol, and FTP-based file transfers in secure tunnels. The integrated terminal emulation can emulate the Linux console or an Xterm.

Reflection for Secure IT supports the AES (128, 192, and 256 bit), 3DES (3 56 bit key EDE) and Blowfish (128 bit) ciphers and can handle RSA and DSA user keys. The new features in the current version include improved Kerberos functionality, which is suitable for Unix systems tied in to Microsoft’s Active Directory

A single-seat license for a Windows or Unix client costs around 120 euros, the server license for Windows weighs in at around 640 euros, and the Unix server version costs around 900 euros. Support contracts and discount pricing is available for 10 licenses or more.
