VMware monitoring with OpenNMS
Dynamic resource allocation and migration of virtual machines between hosts mean that VMware environments pose new monitoring challenges. A new version of the free OpenNMS network management tool now includes an option for monitoring VMware-based infrastructures.
OpenNMS is an enterprisegrade, open source network management system. According to the project website, OpenNMS provides:
- automated and directed discovery and provisioning,
- event and notification management,
- service assurance, and
- performance measurement.
