While USENIX continues with its many conferences, its Annual Technical Conference will be missed.

A few months ago, I read a Facebook post from an old (in every sense of the word) friend of mine that almost casually told me that the USENIX Association was having their 50th and last Annual Technical Conference (ATC) in July of 2025.

USENIX, known for its high-quality conferences with peer-reviewed research papers, started in 1975, two years after I graduated with my undergraduate degree from Drexel University in Commerce and Engineering with a minor in Data Processing.

It was in 1980 when I went to work for Bell Laboratories as a Unix systems administrator, that I heard about USENIX and their ATC conference. I convinced my management to send me.
