Advisory Check 2.20 with More Feeds and HP-UX
Advisory Check (advchk), a small tool for monitoring installed software security, is now available in version 2.20. It has extended its source feeds and is now supported on HP-UX.
The program helps UNIX admins filter through the large numbers of security advisories that pertain to their systems by gathering RSS, RDF and XML feeds from the Web. It detects the installed software from the monitored system's package manager, which occurs over SSH for remote systems. The command line program then presents admins just those advisories that are relevant for the installed packages.
Advisory Check 2.20 adds to its existing package managers, such as dpkg, rpm, Gentoo portage, BSD family pkg_info and AIX lpp, support for HP-UX swlist. The list of advisory feeds was extended by six new sources.
Software consultant Stephan Schmieder offers his perl script for advchk-2.20 under revised BSD license for download <link href="http://unixgu.ru/#FMFreemind_Link_334910995FM" target="_blank">here</link>.
