Astaro Security Gateway V7 with New Spam Protection

Sep 26, 2007

The latest version of Astaro Security Gateway V7 no longer relies on Spamassassin. Commtouch technology is now used to filter unsolicited mail.

It uses Recurrent Pattern Detection (RPD), with the spam scanner comparing fingerprints of incoming email with patterns on the central, continually updated Commtouch database. This technology reacts quickly to new waves of spam and also promises to stem the flood of image and PDF-based spam.

The new spam protection feature is provided with the latest version of Astaro Security Gateway, version 7.009, which is available at an rrp of about 350 euros. In addition to this, Astaro sells the Linux-based solution as a pre-installed operating system on its hardware appliances.
