Complete Calendars and Mail: Tine 2.0 Released

Project Tine 2.0 has released version 2009/07 of the web-based groupware. Codenamed Leonie, the software comes with the new modules: calendar and email.

The calendar module supports an arbitrary number of public and private calendars with access enabled on an individual basis. Apart from user accounts, contacts from addressbooks can also be invited to events. Developers emphasize the particularly user-friendliness of the drag&drop, one-click capability when raising events- the calendar feels like a desktop application.

The email module supports multiple IMAP accounts per user and advanced filters, and also handles IMAP folder administration.

With ActiveSync, files, complete with events and tasks, can be pushed to all mobile devices of an organization. However, due to patent problems, users in the US will have to do without the ActiveSync feature.

Tine 2.0 is released under the open source license AGPLv3. Developers have set up a demo-website introducing the latest version. The PHP source code as tarball is ready for download from the project page.
