Dell Releases Streak Source Code

Get access to the mini tablet's custom ROM.

Dell has released the custom Android ROM built for the recently released Dell Streak, a mini tablet/smartphone hybrid. Currently, the Streak runs on a modified build of Android 1.6, something critics were quick to fault on the device.

Recently, the development community accused Dell of not releasing some of the open source components found in the Streak –– a requirement of the GPL. This announcement essentially puts those concerns to rest.

Now, with all of the components available to developers maybe they can beat Dell to porting Android 2.2 to the device while keeping all of the custom UI and applications intact. The source code can be downloaded here.
