The Fedora project has put together a special interest group (SIG) dedicated to implementing Linux distros in cloud computing.
The Fedora Cloud SIG set up a mailing list as a drop-in center for all those interested in the SIG. The inspiration came from Greg DeKoenigsberg, senior community architect at Red Hat.
One of the first messages on the mailing list was from DeKoenigsberg himself, who suggested a definite goal for the group for the immediate future: creating a high-performing Fedora image for Amazon's EC2 cloud computing service. The most recent Fedora kernel running on EC2 is version 8, which "gives Fedora a bad name." He suggests instead getting the Fedora release process to integrate EC2 image creation.
Meanwhile the group is appealing to all in the Fedora community interested in cloud computing and EC2. Under circumstances the cloud infrastructure could play a role in Fedora's internal development: DeKoenigsberg suggests creating a test account for those involved.
