Former Nagios Conference Calls out for Speakers

The two day event formerly known as the Nagios Conference has since become an annual meeting for users and developers of open source monitoring solutions. Despite the new name, “the conference will continue to focus on Nagios and its related tools,” said Julian Hein, Managing Director of conference organiser Netways.

28 to 29 October in Nuremberg, Germany, open source professionals will meet to discover and share information on the latest developments and best practices around Nagios. “As with each year, the OSMC will offer practical presentations and hands-on workshops, all in a relaxed atmosphere of open discussion and casual networking,” added Julian.

A few high flyers from the Nagios community are already confirmed speakers, including Wolfgang Barth, author of the first Nagios handbook, Kristian Köhntopp, architecture and scaling master at booking.com and Michael Lübben, Nagios-portal.org founder and developer of NagVis and NagTrap plugins.

Open to both English and German presentations, the OSMC 2009 Call for Papers, including previous programs can be found at the company's web site.

One month ago the open source project Nagios has been forked into the Icinga project. The Netways firm ascertains that the conference's name change has been planned long before and got nothing to do with the fork. According to the project roadmap, version 0.8.1 will be available next week.
