LiMo Foundation Introduces LiMo 4

The LiMo Foundation, a global consortium of mobile operators, device and technology vendors, announced the latest release of the LiMo Platform—LiMo 4.

LiMo 4 Platform is Linux-based and delivers complete middleware and base application functionality. LiMo 4 uses open source technologies and supports openness and choice in mobile consumer market.

LiMo 4 includes a flexible and poweful user interface, extended widget libraries, 3D window effects, advanced multimedia, social networking and location based service frameworks, sensor frameworks, multi-tasking and multi-touch capabilities as well as support for scalable screen resolution and consistent APIs. In addition LiMo 4 is hardware independent.

LiMo maintains a list of open source components that are used on its platform and LiMo 4 code is scheduled to become available for public download beginning July 2011.
