Linspire CEO quits
Kevin Carmony has quit his position as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) with software vendor Linspire.
In an interview with Linux-Watch.com Carmony stated that he thought it was time to move on, and work on other projects. Among other positions Carmony is the Chairman of a studio for child photography and the CEO of an online dating service. At the same time Carmony will be supporting Republican Mitt Romney's election campaign in 2008.
Kevin Carmony joined Linspire – the company previously known as Lindows until the legal battle with Microsoft over the name – in 2001, and was appointed CEO in 2005. Carmony was the man behind the legal battle concerning Lindows and the Windows brand. In recent years Carmony was responsible for the partnership between Linspire and Microsoft.
Carmony also stated that he will continue to support Linspire and desktop Linux, and will still be using Linux on his own desktop. Linspire has not yet named a new CEO.
