LinuxTag 2010 Program Set

The 16th LinuxTag runs June 9-12, 2010 at the Berlin Exhibition Grounds. The conference organizers released details.

The LinuxTag 2010 will consist of over 200 presentations covering 25 main themes, among them kernel and system programming, open source in the professional sector, and security. Other main themes relate to individual distros such as openSUSE, Fedora, Ubuntu, GNOME and KDE. The Debian community is running its own parallel event onsite with the MiniDebConf-Berlin-2010. Current trends are reflected in further themes such as mobile and embedded, Web apps and cloud computing.

The organizers invited a number of prominent guests to cover the themes: Ubuntu maven Mark Shuttelworth, Chris DiBona from Google, Bill Hilf from Microsoft and Larry Augustin from SugarCRM. Add to that kernel journalist Jonathan Corbet and open source professor Dirk Riehle.

Next to talks and exhibits of vendors and projects, LinuxTag 2010 also provides the opportunity to get a reduced rate for certification at the Linux Professional Institute (LPI). Cost-based tutorials will also be offered. Users from businesses and organizations will have the chance to swap experiences. The LinuxNacht on the evening of June 10 is the social event to "chill out and party."

Entry fees to LinuxTag have two changes: children up to eight years old are free and school groups can get a day pass for EUR 30 (orderable via fax form). Tickets at the gate are EUR 14 and four day tickets are EUR 30, reduced to EUR 12 and EUR 20 respectively with advance booking. Discounts are available for students, trainees, military and civilian duty personnel, and the handicapped. Details on prices, directions and the program are on the LinuxTag website.
