MeeGo Releases In-Vehicle-Infotainment Version 1.0
Aug 03, 2010
On the tail of last week's GENIVI announcement, MeeGo releases a version of the OS targeted at vehicle user interfaces.
Last week, the GENIVI Alliance announced that it had selected MeeGo as its platform for in-vehicle infotainment, meaning that the Linux-based operating system would power future in-car media centers made by GM, BMW, and other car manufacturers. Now, MeeGo announced the release of its In-Vehicle-Infotainment build of the operating system.
The sample user interface that comes with the MeeGo IVI.
The release includes a sample IVI home screen and taskbar, designed with Automotive Center Console HMI requirements in mind. Also included is a sample dialer application and a sample navigation program. Additionally, the UX is built on Kernel version 2.6.33 and with UI for managing network connections. The Fennec Browser is the default browser for the IVI.
