Meyer Sound Laboratories Becomes Linux Foundation Member
Apr 13, 2010
Membership formalizes long-time collaborative relationship between the audio pioneer and open source icon.
The Linux Foundation announced the addition of Meyer Sound Laboratories, manufacturer of loudspeakers, connectors, audio analysis tools, processors, and drive systems, as the newest member of the foundation.
Meyer Sound began producing professional-grade sound reinforcement products in 1979. Their experimental design and innovative approach to professional audio directly led to collaborations with Francis Ford Coppola and The Grateful Dead.
Now, the company uses Linux to run many of its proprietary audio applications. Meyer Sound's Cinema Experience system is used by American Zoetrope, Coppola's studio.
Representatives of Meyer Sound will be on-hand at the Linux Foundation's Collaboration Summit.
