Microsoft Documents ODF Implementation in Office 2007

With the “Implementation Notes”, Microsoft has published documents recording the integration of Open Document Format (ODF) 1.1 into its Office 2007 package.

Giving ODF the lead, the software giant will be publishing implementation notes for its own Office Open XML (OOXML) in a few weeks. The implementation is coordinated to enable the simultaneous integration of both formats into Service Pack 2 of Office 2007. According to a Microsoft announcement, the SP2 is still in the Beta phase.

The implementation notes can be found on the Document Interoperability Initiative website. Sandra Schaefer, in charge of Microsoft's interoperability strategy in Germany, says, “These notes will help promote interoperability by providing details that others can use as reference points for their own applications.”
