Mozilla Foundation Brings Updates for Firefox 3.5 and 3.0

Up-to-date Linux users will probably have the latest Firefox versions via package manager already installed on their PCs: 3.0.14 and 3.5.3 fix security vulnerability and scrutinize Flash plug-ins.

Around six potential security breaches have been fixed including some that could have compromised the secure SSL connection and the certification. Firefox 3.5.2, also makes it possible to execute code in the case of a system crash. A complete list of fixed bugs can be found at Mozilla's Bugzilla.

A further security feature of the new Firefox versions concerns the Flash player. The browser will check the Flash version number and warn the user if an update is available. Weaknesses in Adobe's Flash Player are among those most commonly abused. Mozilla would also like to introduce a similar check for other plug-ins.

Those who haven't received the browser updates automatically can find the latest versions ready for download on the Mozilla homepage.
