No Ties GPU Specification Release by AMD

In contrary to recent reports, AMD staff has now announced that they will be providing ATI graphics processor specifications to driver developers with no ties attached.

AMD employees Matthew Tippett and John Bridgman announced today at the X Developer Summit in Great Britain that the GPU specification will be released without a non-disclosure agreement (NDA).

According to the two, the 2D specification will be released in the near future, with 3D to follow suit shortly. Internal details of ATI's R300 GPUs are to follow. Last week ATI owners AMD announced that publication of the specifications would be made subject to signing a non-disclosure agreement.
