Nokia Outsources Symbian to Accenture

Nokia announces collaboration plans to outsource its Symbian software activities and transfer 3,000 employees to Accenture.

The collaboration plans, which are set to be finalized summer 2011, call for Accenture to gain about 3,000 Nokia employees and provide Symbian-based software development and support services. According to Nokia, collaboration plans affect employees located in China, Finland, India, United Kingdom and the United States.

Also, listed in the collaboration plans, Accenture would provide mobility software, business and operational services around the Windows Phone platform to Nokia. Once finalized, Accenture would then become a preferred partner for Nokia's smartphone development activities and a preferred provider of services.
