Ready to Run Images for OpenVZ

The OpenVZ project has released two new virtual machine images which will give administrators the ability to set up a new virtual server in less than a minute.

OpenVZ is the Open Source derivative by SWsoft, the vendor of the commercial virtualization solutions Parallels and Virtuozzo. The project now has two ready to run images available for downloading via the Templates link on its website. Adminstrators can build virtual machines with Ubuntu Server 7.10 or Ubuntu Desktop 7.10. The pre-built virtual systems were developed by OpenVZ in collaboration with the Ubuntu company, Canonical.

Administrators can modify the images. Support is available from both companies. Canonical offers support for Ubuntu, SWsoft for the commercial version of OpenVZs, Virtuozzo.

OpenVZ Commercial Support

OpenVZ User May 17, 2009 4:53am GMT

Note carefully, Parallels will only provide support for their commercial version of OpenVZ (Virtuozzo). They will not support OpenVZ users (even if they purchase support). A number of website (openvz.org included) state otherwise. Be warned.
