Ruby 1.9.2 Released

New methods and enhanced IPv6 support among major improvements.

Ruby 1.9.2 was released today and with the incremental update comes a few noticeable features and improvements.

Ruby 1.9.2 features a new socket API that improves IPv6 support. It also features random number generators through its new Random class. Time has been reinstated, alleviating the 2038 time problem that is only a problem if we, as a society, are still using 32-bit machines in the year 2038.

Ruby 1.9.2 supports Debian 5, 32- and 64-bit flavors of Windows, OS X 10.5 and 10.6, FreeBSD 6, Solaris 10, Symbian. Ruby 1.9.2 is unverified on additional Linux distros, other versions of OS X, AIX 5, and BeOS. Ruby 1.9.2 passes more than 99 percent of the RubySpec.

Love Ruby! Now if only more developers would pull the trigger and jump to 1.9 (including me).
