UCK 2.0: Tailor Made Ubuntu CDs

Version 2.0 of the Ubuntu Customization Kit (UCK) has just been released. The kit gives useres the ability to create customized Ubuntu Live CDs.

A graphical wizard is available to help users create modified language versions. A collection of scripts helps users to remove or add packages, and change the CD content or initial RAM disk of the live system.

Besides Ubuntu systems with the Gnome desktop, the Customization Kit can also create live CDs with the KDE version Kubuntu, and of Edubuntu. The current version also has enhanced support for the Xfce desktop to produce Xubuntu CDs. The developers have also spread functions over individual scripts and improved logging. The official announcement has more details

The kit is available as a source code archive and as a Debian package on the project homepage. Bug reports can be submitted to the Ubuntu project via a Launchpad system page.
