Yet More 64Bit

It's been a good week for 64Bit. Following high Bit releases from Wine and Flash, Sun is now offering a Java Plug-In for 64Bit browsers.

It's been a few years since 64Bit was considered to be all the rage. After a drought of emergency 32Bit solutions and constant complaints from users, it seems the software producers are becoming increasingly convinced of the need for 64Bit systems.

Thanks to the Sun 64Bit plug-in, Linux and Windows users can now enjoy Java with their 64Bit versions of Firefox 3. Sun's extension is available from update 12 of Java 6, but not for PC's with Sun's own Solaris-System, due to the absence of a 64Bit browser.

The plug-in can be downloaded from the Sun website, with installation instructions for Linux users available here.
