Embedded Linux doesn’t have to be rocket science, which the Gnublin board clearly shows. If you want to learn how to read sensors, flip switches, and switch LEDs on ARM Linux, this tiny machine is perfect for your research.

The Gnublin board is a learning and training platform for embedded Linux. Produced by ARM specialist Embedded Projects in collaboration with the Chair of Technical Informatics in Augsburg, all of the data, plans, programs, and specifications for the board are open source and available on the Internet. At around EUR 50, Gnublin (GNU, board, Linux) comprises a 2.6.33 kernel, an ARM9 CPU, and numerous interfaces and sample programs (Table 1).
