Adobe Reader 8.1.1 for Linux

The latest version of the PDF viewer Adobe Reader for Linux, version 8.1.1, is now available as a download.

The vendor gives users of the free operating system a choice of Debian or RPM packages, and tar-gz or bz2 archives on the download site. The download can take awhile – the tar-gz weighs in at 47MB.

The page lists the fairly strict system requirements. The viewer needs an installed GTK+ library, version 2.6 or newer, 512MB RAM, up to 125MB disk space, and the Firefox browser version 1.5 or newer. Besides Linux users, Solaris users can also download a new version of the PDF viewer.
