Android in Sight: MIPS Technologies Joins Open Handset Alliance

The Open Handset Alliance supporting the Android operating system has won a new member in MIPS Technologies.
MIPS Technologies out of Sunnyvale CA brings with it its Android on MIPS code as a new member of the Open Handset Alliance. The source code optimized for its own use is already available as open source. Some months ago MIPS Technologies had joined the Open Embedded Software Foundation, where it's also "working to define standardized Android-based platforms for consumer devices."
The source code for porting from Android to the MIPS32 architecture, a reference binary and documentation are on the company webpage.
