Edgefort 300 for Centralized and Decentralized Data Backup

The Edgefort 300 system integrates Arkeia's backup software with a hardware appliance that automatically backs up data to disk and tape.

Among other features, the Edgefort 300 series includes remote management in the form of a Web-based administration console for monitoring and the implementation of multiple, distributed Edgefort systems. The integrated RAID 1 disk system includes a virtual tape library and is extensible to 2TB capacity. A disk-to-disk-to-tape backup function is also included for data archiving on tape off site. Data encryption is performed on board.

The Arkeia Web-based front-end gives administrators the ability to set up a distributed backup environment.

The Egdefort product series was presented in April, but pricing was not available at the time. The 100 and 200 series were released in July. The new Edgefort 300 series is available for immediate delivery with prices starting at 6950 euros plus VAT. Arkeia has announced the release of a 500 series for later this year; it will have a capacity of 5TB and is designed to protect up to 50 machines.
