GlassFish 2.1 Java Application Server Update

Sun Microsystems has brought the GlassFish Java application server up to its newest state with version 2.1.

The GlassFish enhancements include support for the SailFin Application Server, another Sun project for telephony via Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) functionality. Next to fixing around 500 bugs, the release adds languages for localization.

GlassFish also implemented and reworked a few components, such as the Shoal Group Management Service (GMS), Open Message Queue (Open MQ) and Session Replication.

The platforms on which GlassFish was tested now include Windows 2008, Open Solaris and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5. Downloads and installation instructions are available here.
