Initial version of Solaris Cluster Express

Sun Microsystems has released the first few components of Solaris Cluster Express 7/07 as Open Source.

Sun has thus fulfilled its promise to release various Solaris Cluster modules under the Common Development and Distribution License (CDDL). Agents give users the ability to monitor programs and can be used in combination with free and proprietary applications to improve availability. Monitoring is implemented with the help of PostgresSQL databases and Solaris containers among other things.

Solaris Cluster Express modules for Sparc and Intel x86 computers can are available for downloading. User who need support will need to turn to the Sun Community forums for the time being. Thus far, the Open HA Cluster and a few other components have been released. Publication of the Solaris cluster is scheduled for completion within 18 months.
