Netbeans 6.5 IDE with Python Introductory Course

The latest release from Java developer Sun fully integrates PHP and offers a taste of Python support.
As usual, Sun Microsystems used its own in-house trade fair to launch a new release.

This time it was the new version of the open source Java-IDE at the Sun Tech Days in Beijing. Following the integration of Ruby developers in version 6.0, first steps in the direction of PHP were taken in version 6.1. The new Netbeans 6.5 provides full support for PHP and a first Python version. Also new is the Groovy and Grails support, with improved support for Ajax and Java script.

The tester specific developer environment is available for download, and with Python support here.

For the Java versions, developers will need JDK 5 or 6, for Ruby & Co. Java 5 or 6. Details and hardware recommendations can be found in the release notes. Most of Netbeans IDE is jointly licensed under Sun's Common Development and Distribution License (CDDL) and the GPLv2.
